12 In The Box: Watch Alice In Chains perform at yesterday’s NFC title game in Seattle

Here in New England, there’s going to be a lot of hate directed at the Northwest in the two weeks leading up to Super Bowl XLIX. But despite all the developing story lines, sports-related and otherwise, between the Patriots and defending champion Seattle Seahawks, one thing is certain: getting Alice In Chains to perform during the NFC title game is pretty fucking cool.

Yesterday at CenturyLink Field, the grunge legends busted out ’90s hits “Man In The Box” and “Would” (which is still one of the greatest songs ever) for Seattle’s boisterous home crowd. And while the television networks pretty much ignored the performance, fan-filmed video from those in attendance has surfaced online.

Check out two videos below, and catch up with our 2013 interview with Alice In Chains singer William DuVall, where he discusses replacing original vocalist Layne Staley, adding to the band’s legacy, and their recent record, The Devil Put Dinosaurs Here.

One thing is for sure — this is probably a lot better than whatever Katy Perry has planned for the Super Bowl.
