On Target: Slaves unleash a guitar-rock fury in new video for ‘The Hunter’

It didn’t take long for us to find our new favorite band last year at SXSW. British garage punk duo Slaves damn-near hypnotized us with their mechanically relentless rock fury during a performance at Latitude, and we relived the magic over and over via video captured by Bowery Boston’s Carl Lavin.

With SXSW 2015 fast approaching, it’s all too appropriate that Slaves are back in the digital headlines. Today they premiered the new video for new single “The Hunter” at i-D Magazine, and the clip is an acid-trip freakout while the band’s meticulous rock pummels and pounds. The colors give it a nice You Can’t Do That On Television vibe, but that might just be our own childhood memories creeping through.

Watch that shit down below.

Vocalist/drummer Isaac Holman and guitarist/vocalist Laurie Vincent should have a strong year ahead, with “The Hunter” out January 12 via Virgin EMI and Slaves just being tabbed for the BBC’s Sound of 2015 list.

Get into it.
