Full Metal Racket: Listen to Vincent D’Onofrio’s batshit crazy/awesome new song ‘I’m a Hamster’

It’s been a banner week for actors in music. Yesterday we learned that David Duchovny is in Boston speaking to Berklee students and laying down some tunes at Q Division in Somerville, and now comes 94 seconds of beautiful musical chaos from Vincent D’Onofrio.

We’ll call this new genre Law & Disorder.

“I’m A Hamster,” which you can listen to below, is the first cut off D’Onofrio’s new collaborative effort with multi-instrumentalist Dana Lyn, and together they are called Slim Bone Head Volt.

D’Onofrio’s work here is spoken word, lyrics comprised from “the long rambling text messages [he] would send to Lyn and other cast members of the off-Broadway play they were in together,” reads the press deets. Lyn created jazz-based musical compositions for D’Onofrio to rant over, and the result is Hollywood meets Sleaford Mods.

This is awesome.

The duo’s debut record, appropriately titled Slim Bone Head Volt, is out March 3 via Buddhabug Records. The album art and track listing are posted after the track.
