New York rock band Hooray For Earth played with Pains of Being Pure at Heart at Glasslands in Brooklyn on Monday, and according to posts on their Twitter and Instagram, it was their last show ever.
Damn.
Hooray For Earth began in Boston back in 2005 before frontman Noel Heroux relocated to NYC two years later, and leave two sterling full-length albums (and two dope Eps) to their credit: 2011’s True Loves, and this year’s excellent Racy. Both albums were released via Dovecote Records.
Last month, the band played the Vanyaland-curated Sound Of Our Town festival at the Lawn On D in South Boston, a kickoff party for the 2014 Boston Music Awards voting season. They are nominated for Best Boston Band That Doesn’t Live In Boston in this year’s BMAs, alongside Skaters, Lake Street Dive, and fellow Sound Of Our Town performers Eli “Paperboy” Reed and the Both.
Here’s their “farewell” announcements. Pour one out for one top-shelf band…
heyall – tonight's show will be the last Hooray For Earth show ever. XO HFE
