Talking A Walk: Passion Pit founding guitarist Ian Hultquist announces departure from the band

It’s been a few years since the last studio album from Passion Pit, and when the Cambridge-born electro-pop band eventually releases the anticipated follow-up to 2012’s Gossamer, they will have a new look.

Earlier today, Passion Pit founding guitarist and keyboardist Ian Hultquist announced his departure from the group via Twitter. Read tweets are below.

Now based in Los Angeles, Hultquist has been busy writing music for film and television commercials.

While we await the new Passion Pit record, frontman and songwriter Michael Angelakos has been working on several projects of his own, including co-producing the work of rising singer Ryn Weaver. Back in August the band tweeted out “LP3 is close to completion.”

Passion Pit headlined last September’s Boston Calling Music Festival.
