One of the better overnight success stories of 2014 has been the rise of musician Ryn Weaver from unknown singer-songwriter to internet sensation. The buzz was over the June release of debut single “OctaHate,” a track co-written by Charli XCX and boosted by co-production from some of music’s heavyweights, like Michael Angelakos of Passion Pit, Benny Blanco, and Cashmere Cat.
Born Aryn Wüthrich, Ryn Weaver was the belle of the summer. And now as she prepares to make her live debut October 22 at Bowery Ballroom in New York City for CMJ Music Marathon Week, “OctaHate” has an accompanying video that gives us a better glimpse of the promising pop prodigy.
It’s a colorful clip with a nice assault on the senses, and it makes “OctaHate” sound as fresh as when we first heard it a few months ago.
Meanwhile, Weaver’s Promises EP is out now via Friends Keep Secrets/Interscope.
