Booking Agent Boogie: Jason Trefts out, Dan Millen back in at Fenway rock club Church

After six months and a successful four-day Boston En Masse multi-genre music festival this past weekend, Jason Trefts is leaving Fenway rock club Church. The Illegally Blind Productions talent buyer was just brought on in April, and announced the news of his departure this morning via Facebook.

Our sources tell us that Dan Millen of Rock On Concerts, a former booking agent at Church, will resume duties of filling the venue’s live music schedule. Trefts’ run of booked shows extends into December, so Millen’s impact should be seen on the calendar in the New Year.

Millen, of course, is also working to re-open Somerville rock club Radio as Thunder Road, and last week cleared a liquor license hurdle that should expedite the opening of the Union Square room.

Here is Trefts’ full announcement regarding Church.

Just so people know, I’m not the booking agent at Church of Boston anymore. It was a good learning experience, but I need a break. I have the calendar filled until December though so it might be a while until I get to recharge. My biggest regret is that I didn’t ever get to save up enough for a new bike. Thanks to everyone that supported what I was trying to do over there… it was always an impossible task with me having to do absolutely everything (book shows, update websites, social media, print/hang flyers, etc), but I don’t like letting anything get in my way. I’m psyched to never again have to worry about the bar doing well on a weekday with a Red Sox game and no parking. Back to doing Illegally Blind shows around the city!

More to come…
