Over the past year or so there’s been a real explosion of electro-pop acts around Boston, as newer projects like St. Nothing and Goldbloc have quickly joined the ranks alongside some of the city’s steady electronic music veterans. Those bands, and others — like Avoxblue, Color Channel, and more to be announced in coming weeks — will all take part in the upcoming four-day Boston En Masse music festival organized by Illegally Blind Productions’ Jason Trefts, the force behind the recent Fuzzstival psych-rock fest in Cambridge.
UPDATE: Boston due Pale Hands have joined the bill.
Each night of Boston En Masse, which goes down September 18 to 21 at Church in the Fenway area, offers up a specific sound as Illegally Blind teams with an independent Boston media partner. Vanyaland, of course, is on board for the dance-pop night on Sunday, September 20, and other events include a hip-hop showcase (September 18); a punk, noise and experimental music night with Boston Hassle (September 19); and an indie rock party with Allston Pudding (September 21).
“The goal, beyond everything, is to continue getting people from different walks of life to come together and celebrate our music community,” says Trefts. “Basically, I feel like we are continually being divided (by society, etc.) and I want to use art to help build connections between people. A lot of good can happen when you appreciate the people around you.”
