Rock club Church closing for the weekend due to ‘unforeseen maintenance issues’

Earlier in the week we hyped up one of the first-ever live shows from Boston noise-pop band Coaches, who were supposed to play Fenway rock club Church on Saturday night. That show, and a handful of others, have been cancelled or rescheduled as the live music room is closing for the weekend as it fixes “unforeseen maintenance issues.”

Tonight’s Welch Boys show is off, as is Sunday’s World Cup viewing party for the United States vs. Portugal match.

We’re told the issue is “definitely fixable,” and talent buyer Jason Trefts is busy rescheduling the affected shows. Church hopes to open early next week, when its schedule features legendary UK punk band the Business on Wednesday, the Break Bread hip-hop series on Thursday, and Grateful Dead tribute band Playin’ Dead on Friday.

Here’s the official announcement via the venue’s Facebook:

ATTN: Due to unforeseen maintenance issues we have no choice but to close the club until Monday. Our apologies to the bands that were scheduled for this weekend, those that were planning on attending, and of course our staff who are unable to work for a few days. We are doing everything we can to be back open on Monday! Thank you for your understanding and patience!

Stay tuned…
