All In, Allston: Boston bands unite for Pretty & Nice fundraiser show

Late last month we relayed the shitty news that Boston guitar-pop crew Pretty & Nice had much of their gear and merchandise stolen from their van in a smash-and-grab burglary in Lower Allston.

While some of the merch was found damaged in the street at the corner of Braintree Street and the Rugg Road and Denby Street merger (behind the dirty old rehearsal complex), the band still has not recovered their instruments. Now, a few bands are coming together to raise money for Pretty & Nice on Monday, June 9 at Great Scott.

Bent Shapes, Earthquake Party, Miami Doritos, and Spirit Kid will all play the Pretty & Nice Fundraiser in hopes of raising some coin for the band. There’s a $7 cover, it’s an 18-plus affair, and advance tickets are available here.

“Some friends of ours got their trailer broken into by some shit-apples so we’re throwing a party to raise some cash and get them new equipment,” wrote Bent Shapes Ben Potrykus on the Facebook invite, displaying the finest use of the term “shit-apples” we’ve ever seen. “Our friends are pretty and nice. They’re Pretty & Nice, in fact. They’re a good band and we would like to see them playing a lot more shows and writing a lot more music than is possible with no instruments. So let’s rage.”

There’s also word of a cocktail reception-type of event going on later next week, and we’ll post that information as soon as we get it. In the meantime, scan over Pretty & Nice’s missing gear list and keep your eyes peeled.

Also let’s all get Great Scott knuckle tats.
