It seemed so obvious on Valentine’s Day — a band called Lovestarrs, and a song called “Stupid Cupid.” But ehhh, we were busy launching a radio station so it slipped by us on the loveliest day of the year.
We did notice, however, that this new synthpop jam comes from a UK trio that used to be called the Good Natured, who had a string of European hits over the past few years and even played the Boston Phoenix “First Contact” party at SXSW in 2011.
It appears the group, led by electro-pop prodigy Sarah McIntosh, quietly adopted the new moniker around the New Year. Lovestarrs are a bit more slickly electronic than their former selves, who were known to rock out a bit on the upbeat dance tip with tracks like “Skeleton” and “Video Voyeur.” We’ll see what this new shape brings, but in the meantime, fire up and download Valentine’s Day single “Stupid Cupid” below via Soundcloud.
