Here’s something even cooler than Coachella’s Tupac Hologram from a few years ago (never forget). Last night on the Late Show With David Letterman — otherwise known as the Orwells’ launching pad — indie rock duo Broken Bells dipped into the way-back machine and covered the Beatles’ 1964 classic “And I Love Her.”
And they did it with a little help from some vintage drumming from Ringo Starr, who played “live” on an old-school television set synched up perfectly with James Mercer and Brian Burton.
The Beatles’ track was recorded this month 50 years ago at Abbey Road Studios, and the Ringo clip played along to is just as old.
Broken Bells were on Letterman to celebrate their new record, After The Disco, out today via Columbia Records. They play the House of Blues in Boston on March 5.
