Everyone is talking about the Orwells performance last night on Letterman; here’s where to catch them in Boston

There aren’t many “defining” moments in rock and roll these days, so let’s forgive everyone for losing their collective shit over Chicago garage rock band the Orwells’ wild performance last night on the Late Show With David Letterman.

After the band’s high-energy rendition of the title track off their latest EP, Who Needs You — which found animated frontman Mario Cuomo all over the fucking place — an excited Letterman literally begged for an encore. The guitarist apparently broke a string and the band were unable to run off another jam, so Paul Shaffer and his band stepped up and started ripping through their own take of “Who Needs You.”

And Shaffer even got down on the floor.

Can the Orwells save rock and roll? Or at least take us back to 2002?

The gents are about to tour the US with Arctic Monkeys before heading out on a club run with Twin Peaks. The latter, a Great Scott show on March 4, is now mandatory attendance.
