UPDATE 6:00 pm EST: I’m told there is some Boston “news” coming tomorrow. Stay tuned…
UPDATE 12.12.13: JUST ANNOUNCED :: May 14th at Royale :: Primal Scream! Tickets go on sale Friday, December 20th at noon :: http://bit.ly/1f8IOyB
After four dates on the West Coast back in October, Primal Scream are returning to the United States next year. The vital UK band has been confirmed to perform Austin Psych Fest May 2 to 4, and will hang around stateside for two shows in New York: May 11 at Warsaw in Brooklyn, and May 12 at Irving Plaza in Manhattan.
According to Please Kill Me, tickets for both gigs go on sale December 17 at 10 a.m., “with a Music Geeks presale for the Irving Plaza show beginning Thursday (12/12) at 10 a.m. (password is ‘musicgeeks’).”
Of course, with Coachella going down April 11 to 13 and 18 to 20, these new Primal Scream dates could be part of a North American larger tour — and after a stellar, bank-account-draining booking run that included Suede, the Stone Roses, and Pulp, the Indio festival is running out of British indie bands to lure to the desert. Let’s hope a full US tour comes together and it makes its way to Boston.
In the meantime, the ‘Scream just released a new video for “Goodbye Scream,” off their latest LP, Make Light. It was influenced by Madonna’s “Erotica” video, and you can fire that shit up way up top.
