Listen to two new PAWS songs played live at the Sinclair in Cambridge

It’s been about eight months now, but we’re still very far from being sick of PAWS’ blistering debut LP Cokefloat!. The Scottish guitar-rock trio have spent the better part of the year touring that record around the world, giving an already raw lo-fi sound another blustery dimension live on stage. So it makes sense that the band is already testing out new material at recent live gigs, and gave Boston a preview of what their new record will sound like when they played with Fucked Up at the Sinclair in Cambridge on June 13.

“So we have started to play new songs live in preparation for recording our next album,” the band posted online over the weekend. “Here’s a little glimpse of us playing ‘Give Up’ in Boston at our show with Fucked Up last month. We will post another new song from this same show if you like this one… x”

PAWS followed up on that promise, and ended up posting two new tracks as “through-the-lens” clips on YouTube: a buzzsaw guitar ripper called “Give Up” and a jangly garage punk tune dubbed “An Honest Romance.” The sound quality isn’t perfect but that suits PAWS’ sound and we get the idea.
