Another day, another music fest for a crazed New England, and this latest one taps into Central Massachusetts. THE NINES will hold court 38 miles west of Boston on Saturday, August 10 across the athletic grounds of Willard Field in Devens. Among the performers for this inaugural powwow are Explosions in the Sky, Delta Spirit, Kid Koala, Walk Off The Earth, and Shuggie Otis, with more to be announced in the coming weeks.
Co-produced and presented by 3Rivers Arts and Great Northeast Productions, Inc., the Nines will feature two stages, and also promises “showcases [of] the works of established and emerging visual artists with art installations, exhibits, interactive art projects, and unique crafts.” There’s also a comedy tent dubbed “Stitch,” providing some ha-ha relief curated by Harvard Square’s Comedy Studio and hosted by Rick Jenkins.
Tickets are $49, with a “Patron of the Arts” VIP pass for $109 that includes “premier parking, fast lane entry, access to the private Cloud 9 lounge, arts garden and viewing area, complimentary beverages and hospitality, air conditioned restrooms, the NINES official 2013 poster and more.” There’s a limited early-bird ticket on-sale this Friday, June 7 at 10am via ticketmaster.com and 800-653-8000, as well as a cash-only sale at the Acton Enterprise Bank branch (the homepage tells us it’s located at 340 Great Road/Route 2A).
