Vanilla Ice has taken another thing to the extreme: burglary.
The “Ice Ice Baby” rapper was arrested in connection with a Florida residential burglary, according to reports sufficing online this afternoon.
Here are details from NBC Miami:
Robert Van Winkle, 47, is facing burglary and grand theft charges related to a burglary that happened sometime between December 2014 and February, Lantana Police said.
According to police, the burglary happened at a home in the 100 block of N. Atlantic Drive. Numerous furniture items, a pool heater, bicycles and other items were taken, police said.
The home was in the process of foreclosure, and Van Winkle was renovating the residence next to the property, police said.During the investigation, police determined Van Winkle played a role. A search warrant turned up the stolen items at a residence under the care and control of Van Winkle, police said.
Van Winkle voluntarily met with detectives to provide a sworn statement and he was taken into custody.
Recently, Vanilla Ice hosted The Vanilla Ice Project on DIY Network, and TMZ says the show played a role in today’s arrest.
Lantana PD tells TMZ … it’s all connected to Ice’s TV show, “The Vanilla Ice Project.” Ice was renovating a nearby home and allegedly thought it was a good idea to go to the abandoned place and take the items in question. Apparently, even though the house was vacant, the rightful owner had a problem with someone jacking their belongings … thus the burglary charge.
Ice’s latest album, WTF – Wisdom, Tenacity & Focus, dropped in 2011. Here’s Vanilla in better times.
