A wise man once said, “Life moves pretty fast, if you stop to look around once in a while — you’ll miss an opportunity to take a gnarly photo and be the first to make it into a show flyer.”
A few days ago, a 21-year-old tree-trimmer named James Valentine was rushed to a Pittsburgh hospital after a chain saw blade ripped into his neck.
According to USA Today: “Valentine was in a tree in Ross Township on Monday afternoon when he was struck in the neck by the saw. Another worker helped him down, and his co-workers left the saw in place to try to limit the bleeding. Valentine had emergency surgery at Allegheny General Hospital. Doctors say the saw missed major arteries and instead cut into muscle. The hospital Tuesday released an X-ray showing the saw still in the 21-year-old’s neck.
The image went viral. And then it took about a day for it to become a flyer for Boston garage punk band White Dynomite’s upcoming shows in New York and Philly.
Seager Tennis of Mellow Bravo might have been the first to jump on it, though. After the news broke early yesterday morning, he quipped on social media: “Your new split 7inch album art is done.”
