Now that bands have absolutely exhausted the idea of taking classic albums out on anniversary tours, Echo & The Bunnymen may have created a new trend for legacy artists — re-imagining, or “transforming”, their classic material.
The Liverpool band are set to release on October 5 a new-slash-old record titled The Stars, The Oceans & The Moon, where their classic material takes on new life. “I’m not doing this for anyone else,” frontman Ian McCulloch says of the LP. “I’m doing it as it’s important to me to make the songs better.”
Today they offer up a starry-eyed rendition of their 1984 standard “The Killing Moon.” Listen to it below.
“The greatest song in the world gets a very special rearrangement,” the band tweeted.
