It’s been a while since Rosamund Pike has had a role that she could really sink her teeth into — we’re tremendous fans of her work in David Fincher’s Gone Girl, and wish she had really received a career bump from that — but our patience may have been rewarded.
Aviron Pictures dropped the first trailer for Cartel Land director Matthew Heineman’s A Private War on Monday, in which Pike stars as British journalist and war correspondent Marie Colvin, whose life and works are well-documented in this excellent Vanity Fair piece from 2012. Colvin lived a large and fascinating life before her tragic death in Syria years ago, and it looks like Pike may have finally found a role worthy of her fascinating efforts.

A Private War hits New York and Los Angeles on November 2, before expanding nationwide on November 16.
