Worshipper detail ‘Mirage Daze’, a heavy tribute to musical heroes

Studio 52 is a community artist space located in the heart of Allston, and is proud to support the Boston music scene and local artist community.

Anyone who rode shotgun during Worshipper’s blitz to their 2016 Rock And Roll Rumble crown may have caught a few covers blasting out of the speakers of ONCE Ballroom. Now the Boston rock band is taking those tributes and putting them on record, releasing Mirage Daze this June 1 via Tee Pee Records.

The four-song EP includes Worshipper’s take on Uriah Heep (“Easy Livin'”), The Oath (“Night Child”), Pink Floyd (“Julia Dream”) and The Who (“Heaven and Hell”). And if you’re lucky, maybe, just maybe, they’ll bust one or four out tonight when they play Koto in Salem with I Was Awake, Cortez, and Set Fire.

“The Mirage Daze EP is a labor of love,” guitarist Alejandro Necochea told The Obelisk last year. “We recorded it live in the studio very quickly last fall to give ourselves something to do while we settled back into our regular-life schedules after releasing Shadow Hymns and experiencing the fanfare that went with it. The idea was to make our own Garage Days revisiting the music from bands that inspired us to get together. Old groups like Uriah Heep, Pink Floyd, and The Who along with The Oath, a band that is relatively recent but their LP was one that brought us all together however long ago. Big fans.”
