As the general Orwellian upheaval Americans are subjected to on a continuous basis becomes increasingly difficult to process, it’s a no-brainer, to say the least, that our Trump-era nation falls well short of any semblance of perfection. Which means it couldn’t be a more perfect time for three bands like AFI, Rise Against, and Anti-Flag to embark on a nationwide tour together to help us all process the insanity.
Billed as the “Mourning in Amerika” tour, the trio of veteran punk activists will embark on a two-month trek this summer, and among the first few dates is a July 31 stop at The Worcester Palladium. While these punk powerhouses are staying fairly tight-lipped as to what to expect or how they’re feeling about the tour themselves, the guys in Anti-Flag, the “elders” on the bill, are looking forward to a little bit more than just rocking the country to its core.
“We have been friends with both of these bands for years, friendship built upon our shared views of empathy, the fight for animal rights, [and] the aim to build unity and community with every show we play,” Anti-Flag write on Facebook.
Much like Rise Against with Wolves, which peaked at No. 9 on the charts, AFI is still flying high on the support of their critically-acclaimed alt-rock chart topper release AFI (The Blood Album), while Anti-Flag continue their busy tour itinerary to push their most recent effort, American Fall.
Tickets for almost every date on the tour, including the Worcester date, go on sale Friday (March 30) at 10 a.m. local time, while the Canadian shows (Edmonton, Vancouver, Calgary, and Toronto) hit public on-sale a week later (April 6), just in case you were headed north to do your mourning in another country.
