Metallica have announced the second leg of their ‘Worldwired’ North American tour, and — spoiler alert! — there is no Boston date.
Also, there is no Massachusetts date.
And, there is no New England date.
This isn’t terribly surprising, as the metal band are hitting mostly secondary markets in this late-2018 and early-2019 run, and Metallica did play Gillette Stadium in Foxborough just last May. So you can’t really cry about it.
What you can do, however, if you just need to see Metallica once again, is get in the car. They play an October 29 show at Albany’s Times Union Center, and two days prior play Keybank Center in Buffalo. Those two gigs are your best road-trip bet, as from there the dudes head west, and don’t come anywhere close to New England for the rest of their run.
Playing so-called “secondary markets” is the intended route here, as the band are noting that they haven’t been back to Grand Forks, North Dakota, in nearly 30 years; haven’t played Birmingham, Alabama in nearly 26 years; and haven’t visited State College, Pennsylvania in 20 years.
We probably won’t have to wait that long for a return to Metallicachusetts.
