The Fenway Park summer concert series is quickly taking shape. Last week we got word that Journey and Def Leppard are hitting the Red Sox ballpark on August 11, and over the weekend Pearl Jam may or may have not leaked their own September dates.

This morning (January 23) we have something a bit more traditional, and Billy Joel has announced his return to Fenway for the fifth straight summer, playing centerfield on August 10.

Tickets go on sale for the general public on January 31 at 10 a.m. via RedSox.com/BillyJoel.

“We marvel at the fact that this will be the fifth consecutive year Billy Joel will be performing at Fenway Park, but we are not surprised,” says Red Sox President and CEO Sam Kennedy in the press release. “It is a testament to the enduring popularity of his great music and consummate showmanship, and we couldn’t be happier that the Piano Man is returning here to deliver more summer magic.”

Joel joins a guitar-heavy slate at Fenway’s musical series this summer, as Zac Brown Band (June 14 and 15) and Foo Fighters (July 21 and 22) has already announced their own gigs.
