What Studio 52 Says: With their spring 2016 EP This Fire, Chuggernaut use their metal prowess to craft a monument in sludge. The five-song release presents copious displays of chugging guitar riffs, chunky bass lines, insanely technical drum work, and ferocious vocals that culminate in a torrent of doom that easily rivals the greats of the genre. Our favorite song on the EP is the aptly titled “Motherfucker,” a self-evident powerhouse that unquestionably supports our description of the band. The coda of the song is a savage head-banger in the most literal sense — it channels and defines the essence of metal like no other on the scene today.
