What Studio 52 Says: It’s the perfect time of the year for bands like Beached Boy. Their wavy pop-punk hits all the right notes for the summer, and their new EP will verifiably be a staple to your beach-bound playlist. Powdered with bubbly melodies and scalding tempo changes, their properly named Open Island EP is full of sing-a-long potential. Constructed of only four tracks, every second of the EP bites at your skin like the sun. Their timing this weekend is precise, as they unshackle Open Island today (June 30) and hit O’Brien’s Pub in Allston on Saturday (July 1) to celebrate. Joining in on the festivities are Vermont’s Clever Girls, Saccharine, Jeff Rowe, and the mighty return to stage of one of our most admired bands in Boston, Luau.
