Several months ago, Cobi’s music video for “Don’t You Cry For Me” stopped us in our tracks. The powerful visual confronted racial tension in ways few artists have dared to recently approach, and the soulful, bluesy song itself continued to pile up millions of plays on Spotify.
Last night, the former frontman of Boston indie hopefuls Gentlemen Hall made his late-night television solo debut, performing the single live on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon.
Not a bad look.
“He is a singer-songwriter from Minneapolis, and I know the family very well,” Fallon joked in his introduction. “His debut single has racked up millions of streams and they are very proud of him.”
We all are.
