If there’s one thing taser trailers for any and all upcoming Star Wars films never once needed, it was a modern soundtrack. Hearing John Williams’ score as new characters and familiar faces are revealed were as much a part of the landscape as the scenes themselves, taking us all back a long time ago to a galaxy we’ve kept near and dear. But hey, December’s Rogue One, the first stand-alone Star Wars Anthology film, and first without the music of Williams as its backdrop, is all about trying new things.
And what better way to show a group of Rebel fighters attempting to steal the design plans for the Empire’s Death Star than with a little bit of “Sabotage” by the Beastie Boys?
That’s what’s given to us today in the form of a new fan-edit via Matthew Longua, who posted a video of the Rogue One trailer set to the Beastie’s classic anthem of rebellion. Sure, we know it won’t be actually included in the film, but it is pretty cool to hear Tie Fighters race across the sky as the song builds up, and the Death Star’s internal alarm syncing up with the song. We know you planned it.
Rogue One is out December 16.
