This is either the most surprising or the most obvious thing ever (we’re not sure): The original Misfits are reuniting for two appearances at September’s Riot Fest.
According to Noisey, the iconic horror punk band’s classic lineup of frontman Glenn Danzig and bassit Jerry Only, with Doyle Wolfgang Von Frankenstein on guitar, will play together for the first time in three decades, headlining Riot Fest in Denver (September 2 to 4) and Chicago (September 16 to 18).
The band broke up in 1983, and legal disputes have prevented Danzig from stepping on stage with the various incarnations of the Misfits band and brand ever since. But apparently, the ill will has been buried.
“It has been the most natural and organic process I’ve ever been a part of,” Riot Fest organizer Mike Petryshyn says, via Noisey. “To be frank, it still hasn’t really hit me that this is actually happening because it’s always been a pipe dream of ours and every Misfits fan. But it is, and I cannot fucking wait to sing along with everyone there.”
If the lead-up to the September shows go well, it can’t be ruled out that we might be getting a full-on Misfits reunion tour just in time for… Halloween.
