Color Me Badd? Color us disappointed?
The inaugural I Love The ’90s Tour was announced this week, but there’s just no love for Massachusetts. Or maybe Massachusetts has no love for the ’90s.
The 29-date tour showcases an FM radio buffet of hip-hop and R&B stars — Vanilla Ice, Coolio, Kid ‘N Play, Salt-N-Pepa, Biz Markie, Color Me Badd, All-4-One, Rob Base, Tone Loc, Young MC and Kool Moe Dee — but the closest it comes to a Bay State state line is an April 29 blowout at the Grand Theater at Foxwoods Casino in Connecticut. A New York City date is also missing from the routing, though there is a stop in Camden, New Jersey.
There is a bit of hope, however, that this trainwreck tour could come to Massachusetts or even southern New Hampshire: There are less than 30 shows stretched out over four-and-a-half-months between April and August, with a lone rando Virginia date all the way out on October 20. So maybe, just maybe, something close to home will be announced at some point, and we’ll all party like Club MTV this summer.
“It feels like you’re taking people back to a time in their lives that they really enjoyed,” Salt-N-Pepa’s Cheryl “Salt” James tells USA Today. “It’s just one big ’90s party.”
This sure would make a trip to Mansfield worthwhile. Check out all the dates below, and start planning that road trip.
