Classic rock legends Boston are hitting the road… but that road does not lead to Boston.
Today Tom Scholz and crew announced their 40th anniversary tour, but suspiciously missing from the initial North American itinerary is, well, you know, a show in Boston. Closest the 14-date trek comes to the Hub is an August 11 show at Mohegan Sun Casino in Uncasville, Connecticut.
However, there are a lot of open dates in the summer months, leaving the possibility of a nice July or August show at Blue Hills Bank Pavilion or Manfield’s XFinity Center. That’s certainly not out of the question. And Scholz is teaming up with the Boston Pops this spring for what promises to be a pretty cool decade-spanning classic rock showcase.
It’s just kinda funny to see Boston hype a new tour without their hometown and namesake.
In any event, the tour kicks off April 29 in Hollywood, Florida. Here’s a teaser from the press release: “Fans can expect to hear all the classic songs they have grown to love, and will be treated to wild Hammond organ work, soaring harmony guitars, and exceptional vocal arrangements, as well as Boston’s unique visual stage presentation and plenty of extra-terrestrial sounds heard nowhere else on Earth.”
