Last night at the Sinclair, the awards portion of the 2015 Boston Music Awards saw a few “upset” victories, but perhaps none more in the Metal Artist of the Year category, where newcomers Worshipper took home the honors over globally recognized scene veterans Converge. Worshipper have only been around for a year, but they are part of a new charge of relentless, but infectious, hard rock and metal, a rising tide of new acts that includes pummeling duo Thirty Silver.
This morning, we are proud to premiere the new video from the freight-train rock duo, which teeter along the rails of punk, grunge and metal. The video is for new track “Familiar,” part of Thirty Silver’s upcoming EP Lost Saints, out officially January 21 with a record release party that night at Sammy’s Patio in Revere.
Though Thirty Silver prefer to let the music and visuals do the talking, guitarist/vocalist Drew Smith gives a glimpse to Vanyaland about the idea behind both the song and video.
“The song and the video both deal with the same theme in different ways: control,” he says. “Control by systems, control by people, control by habits. I’ve known Dan Seitz, the director, for years now, and when he heard the song he pitched this idea that Joe and I both liked, and we were lucky enough to get two good actors for the video, local musician Mark Zero and our friend Julie.”
