Sky Highs: Vibe the fuck out with NZCA Lines’ new synth-disco banger ‘Two Hearts’

NZCA Lines is a London electro-pop trio with some serious pedigree. Ringleader Michael Lovett was recently a touring member of Metronomy and worked in the studio with Christine & the Queens, Charlotte Hatherley is known for her time in Bat For Lashes and Ash, and Sarah Jones drums in Hot Chip. Together they form NZCA Lines, and in advance of upcoming album Infinite Summer, out next month via Memphis Industries, the trio has unveiled “Two Hearts,” a rousing synth-disco banger (can we bring back the term banger?) that’s a little bit Hot Chip, a little bit Drive OST.

Infinite Summer is said to be an LP that marries sci-fi futurism to personal intimacies.

“Half of the world is covered by a city that clings to the past and embraces its destruction, whilst the other half is trying to rebuild, create, and make something new,” Lovett says of the record. “Yet it’s good on both sides because it’s warm everywhere and people just party most of the time.”

To SPIN, he gets specific on “Two Hearts”, which “is about the push and pull of a relationship… A pendulum swinging back and forth between joy and hurt, where the ultimate resolution always takes place in the middle of the night, under glaring lights, to a soundtrack of extremely loud music.”

We are in.
