Next Stop, Russia: Caspian play Cambridge this weekend, then head back overseas

More than a decade into their career, Caspian are known to take their time building up the tension and drama in their songs. But when it comes to touring, the Beverly post-rock band moves pretty fast, and might be one of the few homegrown bands to ever play Cambridge and Moscow in the span of a week.

Tonight, Caspian play a sold-out Sinclair in Cambridge, their first Massachusetts show since releasing new LP Dust and Disquiet late last month via Triple Crown Records. That marks the end of their North American run, and on Halloween night, they kick off a tour of Europe and Asia with a show at Volta in the Russian capital of Moscow.

With more than 650 live shows across 40 countries under their belts, the band is showing no signs of slowing down, and Dust and Disquiet is another powerful take from one of New England’s finest bands.

“It’s an earnest expansion of what people have become familiar with when it comes to what we do,” guitarist Philip Jamieson tells Echoes And Dust in a recent interview. “It’s still a very dramatic, epic, emotional record though perhaps with a bit more light and shade, and sharper contrast between some of the songs. It has all of the hallmark elements of a Caspian record while not sounding much at all like any of the one’s prior, I hope, which is always important to us. We want to keep growing and challenging ourselves, while maintaining what we hope is a distinctive style that belongs to just us.”
