Shipping Down To Quincy: Dropkick Murphys to play Beachcomber finale this weekend, khed


Now for the headline and lede you’ll read a million times before now and tomorrow night: Dropkick Murphys are shipping down to Quincy.

The Boston punk band will play a surprise Saturday night set at the Beachcomber, which is closing after nearly 60 years of business. The venue is set to be demolished to make way for a high-end restaurant, reports Boston Restaurant Talk, with reported views of the Boston skyline and nearby Wollaston Beach.

The Dropkicks played the bar back in the day as a young band starting out. Theirs is expected to be the last live performance at the Beachcomber.

“We are proud to announce that we will be performing a special show in honor of the closing of the world famous Beachcomber – Quincy in Quincy, Mass.,” the band writes on Facebook. “The owners, the McGettrick family, are lifelong friends of Ken’s, and we are honored to be playing the final show there.”

There will only be 250 tickets available. Here’s how to get in:

– 150 tickets will be available online, starting at NOON TOMORROW here

– 100 tickets will be on sale at the Beachcomber starting at NOON SATURDAY.

Added notes: You can purchase a maximum of two tickets. The times for Saturday night are: Doors at 7 p.m., show at 9 p.m.
