Suddenly, this weekend’s Boston Calling comes with dueling covers of Ryan Adams covering Taylor Swift’s “Blank Space.”
Yesterday, a few hours after the world went mad for Adams’ full-on rendition of 1989, Father John Misty reinterpreted Adams’ work on “Blank Space” in the style of the Velvet Underground. This morning, Boston’s Dirty Bangs take on FJM’s reinterpretation, only this time dishing out some “Bad Blood” in the style of ’70s NYC proto-punks Suicide. Listen below as we fall deeper down the rabbit hole.
Of course, this is all in fun, but it could make for a nice showdown of cover tunes this weekend at City Hall Plaza. In one corner, Father John Misty and “Blank Space” play Boston Calling on Saturday, while Dirty Bangs and “Bad Blood” open up Sunday’s slate. Maybe everyone will jam out together near the Roxy’s Grilled Cheese truck, in the style of Fleetwood Mac.
