Last week Michael Stipe and R.E.M. made headlines for being the latest band to call out Donald Trump for using their songs in public forums without their permission. Stipe went on an expletive-filled rant, conveyed by bassist Mike Mills via Twitter, and the band followed it up with a more composed rebuttal. The tl;dr version is essentially “Hey, stop doing that.”
Tim Burgess, frontman of veteran British rock band the Charlatans, felt that response was a “Bit mean of them,” and offered the Republican presidential hopeful the opportunity to use one of his songs, 1992 hit “Weirdo.”
Better than “You’re So Pretty – We’re So Pretty” or “My Beautiful Friend.”

It starts November 7 at Fun Fun Fun Fest in Austin and wraps on the 13th in Chicago, with the closest gig to Boston being a November 10 date at Webster Hall in New York.
