Less than a year after headlining one of the city’s biggest stages in Boston Calling, Ed Sheeran celebrated St. Patrick’s Day yesterday (March 17) with a gig far more intimate. The pop star performed a surprise set at The Dubliner, the celebrated Irish pub located across City Hall Plaza.
After a similar pub gig in Nashville over the weekend, Sheeran took to his Instagram Stories yesterday afternoon, telling fans “Meet me in the pub tonight” while dropping a location pin on Boston and flashing some Celtics gear. He used his track “Galway Girl” — not to be confused with the Steve Earle track of the same title — as the post’s music with a note that read “(It’s okay to admit you like this song today bruh)”.
After the show, The Dubliner posted video clips and photos to its own Insta (the photo up top a screengrab of one of the clips), with the caption: “What a great end to an amazing weekend🍻 Happy St Patrick’s day everyone ☘️ Big thanks to [Ed Sheeran] & everyone that came out to celebrate with us!”
Cool stuff. Check out the scene below.
