Editor’s Note: It’s the same thing we all know in love when it comes to Vanyaland’s recurring weekly live comedy rundown, Mic’d Up — just with a slightly different face. We’ll be hyping club shows, theater and arena gigs, open mics, and whatever else to help fill your free time with some much-needed laughter.
It’s one thing to be pissed off at how things are going in the world right now, but Margaret Cho is bringing it to a whole new level while she uses her creative and comedic superpowers for the good of the people.
Returning to The Wilbur on Friday (March 14) as part of her ongoing Live & Livid tour, Cho brings another expertly-crafted slate of her legendarily blunt and unapologetic comedy to the Boston masses at seemingly the perfect time, in terms of what she has to say. Never one to shy away from telling it like it is, Cho has only continued her dominance as a titanic voice in the industry with her highly anticipated live shows — many of which sell out and fill rooms of all sizes across the country. Most recently, Cho delivered her artistic magic in a musical form with Lucky Gift, her first music album in eight years, which included a tribute to the late great Robin Williams with the album’s second track, “Funny Man.”
There’s largely not a lot to laugh at when you look at the news these days, but if it can be found, Cho is the one to set the coordinates and set sail to find it.
