The ice of Boston has frozen our collective hearts, but signs of summer are starting to shine through the cold. And there are few signs that the sunniest season is coming quite like Levitate Music & Arts Festival’s annual lineup reveal. This year marks the 13th edition of the eclectic South Shore fest, going down July 12 and 13 at the Marshfield Fairgrounds in Marshfield.
Headlining this year’s Levitate are Duxbury reggae crew Stick Figure, alongside roots mainstays and fellow homegrown product Dispatch and New Orleans octet The Revivalists. Also on the colorful and varied bill are Thundercat, Still Woozy, and Protoje, with added New England flavor from The Elovaters, Ripe, Aldous Collins Band, and Hush Club. Lawrence, Dogs In A Pile, Mihali, Top House also stand out on the lineup, which can be viewed in full below.
This year Levitate also introduces the Levitate Foundation Songwriter’s Stage, which offers emerging artists a chance to perform live for the festival’s attentive audience. The stage is anchored by New England songwriters Hans Williams and Lily Fitts, and showcase intimate sets from winners of the Levitate Foundation’s national “Songwriter Of The Year” contest.
“For years, one of the things we’ve been most proud of has been the chance to have the Levitate Festival and brand serve as a platform for emerging artists,” says Levitate founder Daniel Hassett. “For so many out there, they need somebody to believe in their art and provide that little gift of time, space, and exposure that can make all the difference. Through the new Levitate Foundation Songwriter Stage, we’re excited and grateful to have the opportunity to provide this to emerging artists who truly deserve a chance.”
