Editor’s Note: With a brand new year comes new shows, new faces, and a new format for Vanyaland’s recurring weekly live comedy rundown, Mic’d Up. We’ll be hyping club shows, theater and arena gigs, open mics, and whatever else to help fill your free time with some much-needed laughter.
With every new offering he delivers to the masses, Jerrod Carmichael has made it a habit of bringing his whole game to a brand new level. It’s been a few years since he was last in town, so that could very well prove to be a good sign if you’re looking a little of intricately crafted comedy goodness to get you over the mid week hump.
Dropping anchor in the Seaport for two nights at Laugh Boston starting on Tuesday (February 11), Carmichael returns to the area for the first time since 2023 with a newly bulked up batch of material that, if following a similar approach as Carmichael has become famous for taking, will surely raise the bar a bit, as he did with his most recent stand-up special, Rothaniel, in 2022.
Away from the stand-up stage, Carmichael has stayed busy having hosted the 2023 Golden Globes and serving as the star of the HBO documentary series Jerrod Carmichael Reality Show in 2024, for which he won a Gotham TV Award.
The potency with which Carmichael operates from the stage is virtually unmatched, and not even an oddly placed Tuesday or Wednesday get-together in mid-winter could snuff out that amount of creative and comedic power, so check him out while he’s in town.
