Glixen stir up a shoegaze storm with ‘all tied up’

If we’re going to experience earthquakes here in New England, as we did yesterday, it makes perfect sense that Phoenix stirs up its own hurricane. Aiding the Southwest’s noisy cause is “all tied up,” a swirling symphony of shoegaze density from Glixen. The Arizona quartet’s new slice of sonic heavy is the final appetizer for quiet pleasures, an EP produced by Sonny DiPerri (My Bloody Valentine, DIIV) and out February 21 digitally via AWAL with Wichita Recordings supplying the vinyl. “‘all tied up’ is about feeling completely consumed by someone,” says vocalist Aislinn Ritchie. “We definitely wanted the song to feel enveloping. There’s a subtle tension that builds throughout with a push and pull between the guitars and vocals. The song hits hard with its emotional depth, yet breathes with a playful melody.” It’s quite the storm.
