With January finally here to send chills down our frozen spines, it’s only a matter of time before we get the full lineup for Boston Calling Music Festival’s 2025 edition. But before we learn who will be playing this year’s fest, set for May 23 to 25 at the Harvard Athletic Complex in Allston, organizers have outlined a series of “improvements” to elevate the overall experience.
The changes were revealed in social media posts earlier today (January 2), and include a promise of lower ticket prices for “many ticket types”; more water stations to keep attendees hydrated across the festival grounds; and the return of the indoor Arena, which in the past has hosted comedy performances. Boston Calling also teased “special indoor programming” to be announced for the air-conditioned space, so it appears use of the arena will be more than just a hang-out spot.
Perhaps the biggest change to Boston Calling will be the merging of the two main stages to create one massive Green Stage in the grounds’ main area. The combining of the two stages is designed to help sightlines and prevent spectators from getting caught at one stage space with no view of the other. And to keep set times tight, the main stage will have a rotating stage to prevent down time. The Allianz Blue Stage, located near the Ferris wheel, and the locally-driven Orange Stage remain unchanged.
“We’ve invested in a world-class rotating stage system to provide better views, more space to roam, and enhance audio/visual experience for everyone,” the festival writes.
