Dora Jar, Behind The Curtain Tour, September 22
Every now and then a live show jumps off the calendar as an absolutely must-attend event, and that’s what we have here as Dora Jar plays Allston’s Brighton Music Hall on September 22. The New York-born, Los Angeles-raised folk-pop existentialist is poised to become the Next Big Thing, and a casual listen to cinematic new single “Timelapse” quickly shows why. Dora’s debut dark-pop psychedelic fantasia album No Way To Relax When You Are On Fire drops just nine days before her tour kickoff here in Boston, so the buzz should be palpable by the time she hits the Brighton Avenue stage — even if everyone has trouble characterizing the record. “It might be the contrarian in me, in light of everyone identifying themselves and others,” Dora says about the album. “But I have a propensity to not stick with one thing.” Don’t sleep. Tickets go on sale Friday (July 12) at 10 a.m. local time.
