Rat City Arts Festival unveils lineup for third edition

Ever since the Celtics took home another NBA championship, Boston has been seeing green. But come August, they’ll be seeing mint green.

Mint Green (pictured above) will headline this year’s Rat City Arts Festival, which is scheduled for August 3 at Aeronaut’s Allston taproom. The third edition of the free, locally-focused festival will span two stages and run from 3 to 10 p.m., with a rain date of August 10.

In addition to Mint Green, area artists scheduled to perform include shoegazers Paper Lady, folk songstress Grace Givertz, post-punk quartet Sophie’s Body, and rapper Cyan Sueño, among others (with one more act still to be announced). Beloved street performer Keytar Bear will also make an appearance, and guests can plan on treating themselves to wares from a variety of local vendors.

Founded in 2022, Rat City Arts Festival launched as a response to the loss of multiple independent music venues — and by extension, the loss of many paid performance opportunities for artists. Two years later, the fest’s mission still resonates with the community, as the music scene moves forward without shuttered Allston venues like Great Scott and Wonder Bar.
