Fervents unleash ‘Let Go’ as a gnarly rallying cry for displeased youth

Just a short ways away across the Atlantic, Fervents are heating up. The self-described punk band, hailing from southeast Belgium, shared their latest single “Let Go” on Wednesday (June 19), adding momentum to the steady buzz they’ve built regionally that’s slowly but surely making its way to stateside soil.

A gnarly rallying cry for the displeased youth (and youth-at-heart alike), “Let Go” denounces passivity, from relationships to social hierarchy. Though the track perhaps feels at times more at home amongst 2010s rock anthems than classic punk, it stays high-voltage and high-energy from start to finish; distortion abounds, and the emphatic repetition of the title lyric begs to be shouted by an impassioned audience.

Simultaneously with the single drop, Fervents shared an accompanying visualizer for the song over on YouTube. It’s a cyanotype enthusiast’s dream, with blue and white doodles superimposed over fast-changing textured backgrounds and hand-written lyrics — a fun, complementary watch, though those with photosensitivity may want to steer clear.

Over on Instagram, Fervents shared a since-expired story post elaborating on the track: “‘Let Go’ marks a milestone for us. A sort of liberating anthem, it marks a clear transition from what we had done before and will influence the entire creation of our second EP.”

The EP in question, Plastic Snake Factory, is due out October 4 via Capitane Records. Let this get us fired up in the meantime.
