Buffalo Tom want everyone to come to Boston this fall. Or at least a city super close to it.
The beloved indie band, fresh off releasing 10th studio album Jump Rope last month, have detailed their very own weekend-long music festival. It’s called Please Come To Boston, it goes down November 1 to 3, and takes place at The Arts at The Armory in Somerville.
The three-day fest, composed of Friday and Saturday night festivities and a Sunday matinee, features music, arts, comedy, food and wine, and literature. Buffalo Tom will perform live on each day, and play one album in full for each set, as well as other songs from their 40-year career: Let Me Come Over on Friday; Big Red Letter Day on Saturday; and Sleepy Eyed on Sunday.
Also taking part: Comedy sets by Eugene Mirman and Dave Hill; readings by Tom Perotta, Bill Janovitz, and more; plus a Sunday morning session of Punk Rock Aerobics with Hilken Mancini and Tom Maginnis. Also on tap are “surprise guests and films”, as well as selected wine and beer, food trucks, and specialized Buffalo Tom merch items.
“Hopefully a recurring autumn event, this is an invitation to travel to New England to see us perform some unique album sets,” says Chris Colbourn. “And to discover a bit of what has inspired us these past 40 years since settling down here — hometown neighborhoods, forests and beaches, bars, clubs and restaurants — are the setting and muse for so many of our songs”
Tickets go on sale Friday (June 14), and are priced at $70 for a one-day pass, and $237 for a three-day VIP pass, which includes a limited edition bundle of commemorative poster, tote bag and hat.
