Paul Weller, September 8

The Modfather has returned. Paul Weller, whose influential career spans decades — from mod-punk luminaries The Jam to ’80s pop group The Style Council to a prolific solo career — has announced his first tour since 2017. And included in the run is a September 8 visit to Citizens House of Blues in Boston. Weller is touring behind his new May solo album, titled 66 and released in May on the day before his 66th birthday. “I don’t think, ‘What did I do on the last album?’, or, ‘What did I do 20, 30, 40 years ago.’ I’m not interested in that,” Weller says. “It’s only what I’m doing now.” Part of his now is lead single “Soul Wandering,” written with Primal Scream’s Bobby Gillespie. 66 marks the 17th solo album from the British icon’s career, and boasts contributions from Noel Gallagher, Madness’s Suggs McPherson, Richard Hawley, The Blow Monkeys’s Dr Robert, Le SuperHomard’s Christophe Vaillant, and Erland Cooper, with string arrangements by Hannah Peel.
