Tones And I lights up some alt-pop nostalgia with ‘I Get High’

We’re less than 40 days from April 20, but Tones and I is already lighting up. The Australian artist — the one responsible for “Dance Monkey,” which just hit 3 billion Spotify streams, making her the first and only female artist to achieve that milestone — has unveiled a glossy new single today (March 12) in “I Get High.” It’s a blazed-up throwback to the care-free nature of youth, back when weed was illegal-but-accessible and a one-hitter could still get us zooted. “‘I Get High’ is about the nostalgia of growing up with friends,” she says. “Sneaking out and enjoying our youth, looking back and reminiscing about the people that were and are in your life, that make you feel alive. There is magic in this song.” And yes, in case you were wondering, the run time for “I Get High” is a wonderfully placed 4 minutes and 20 seconds long. Fire it up below.
