To be “close 2 u.”

The Boston singer-songwriter has returned with another song to soundtrack your saddest behavior, offering the recently-single some consolation with “close 2 u” on Valentine’s Day (February 14).

The breakup single — which marks Layzi’s first release via Born Losers Records — captures the agony of picking up the pieces while dreaming of picking up your ex like they never split. As she wades through the mourning phase, drifting along to her own downcast bedroom-pop, she collects kernels of empowerment to rebuild after the razed relationship.

“I wrote ‘close 2 u’ a few months after going through a really tough breakup,” Layzi explains. “The lyrics are about the sad acknowledgments you make to yourself post-breakup, accepting that the relationship is really over, and learning how to be content with your own loneliness while going through the healing process.”
